Stinky but Valuable
Ken Wilman was walking with his dog Madge on a British beach when he stumbled upon what he thought was a smelly, yellow rock.
Actually this strange rock was a big pile of whale vomit. Whale vomit, called ambergris, is an ingredient that is in demand for use by the fragrance industry. High-end perfumes such as Chanel No. 5 are reported to use ambergris as an ingredient.
Unusual find him not let go, so immediately after he arrive home and sat down to the computer, he trying to find via the internet some information.
“I didn’t actually realise what it was at first and couldn’t understand why Madge was so interested in it,” he said. “It smelled horrible. I left it, came back home and looked it up on the internet. When I saw how much it could be worth, I went back and grabbed it. It is like walking on the beach and finding a bag of £50,000 in cash.”
